Tiina Liimu is an artist and multidisciplinary creative whose practice moves fluidly between time-based, digital, and hands-on material processes. Working with images and installations, her work explores how technology, storytelling, and physical space intersect.
Her digital media piece, Sequence: Flux, was exhibited at the New Forms Festival in Vancouver, and her analog film, Transversals, toured the West Coast of North America. She has served on the board of directors and educational committees at VIVO Media Arts Centre.
Across Vancouver and Toronto, Liimu has worked in art and production—styling sets and interiors for advertising, designing décor, and fabricating scenic elements for live events, exhibitions, theatre, and media production. She is currently a scenic artist with IATSE 891, creating motion picture scenery.
She has taught and mentored children and youth in media arts and animation at Arts Umbrella. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, her studies focused on the intersections of new media, fine art, and narrative design. She continues to engage with evolving technologies in digital media, animation, and graphic design.
Driven by a passion for live music and visual culture, Liimu has also documented concerts and past and present DIY subcultures.
